From vintage rally to racing – our heritage

Passion for classic cars, handed down through generations

Tradition and experience with pre-war vehicles

For more than 20 years, Oldtimerservice Kranz has stood for expert restoration, maintenance and care of pre-war cars. What began as a personal passion grew into an internationally respected specialist workshop – run by a family that has actively driven pre-war automobiles for decades. Our close connection to classic car rallies and historic motorsport still shapes our belief in where a classic belongs: on the road or the circuit, not in a museum. Because a classic car can only remain part of history if it ‘s driven.

Our family’s story began almost 100 years ago. In the 1920s, our grandfather Paul Kranz travelled in a luxurious Steyr, chauffeured ladies of high society and later took part in regional races, including the “Silberner Pfeil von Straelen”. The next generation was also influenced by motorsport: in the 1950s, Paul’s son regularly visited races at the Nürburgring and experienced the legendary Silver Arrows and the early days of racing.

The tradition continued when Hubert Kranz restored his first car, a Mercedes 220S Ponton, at the age of 17. More cars followed, including a Riley 9 Brooklands from 1928 and a Cleveland from 1925. With Oldtimerservice Kranz established in 2002, the passion finally found its professional home – putting a clear focus on British pre-war cars such as Alvis, Riley, Bentley and Rover.

More know-how with every event

Our regular participation in international events such as the Nürburgring Classic, Gran Premio Nuvolari, Arlberg Classic, Historic Grand Prix Zandvoort and rallies like the “100 Miles of Amsterdam” has significantly contributed to our expertise. Every rally provides valuable insights into how a classic car performs on the road. That knowledge feeds directly into our restoration and workshop work – because only those who experience a pre-war car in action truly know how it needs to be set up.

What we stand for

From the first Nürburgring impressions to today’s workshop projects, one thing has never changed: our belief that classic cars are meant to be driven. We apply the experience gained from every rally, race or hillclimb to our work. Today, Oldtimerservice Kranz is run by Hubert Kranz together with his son Hagen. In our family business, decades of experience and fresh ideas come together to create a level of service for pre-war cars that is truly exceptional in Germany.

Oldtimerservice Kranz stands for tradition, technical excellence and pure driving pleasure – and we look forward to sharing that passion with you.
