This Singer, bearing the original British registration BKO 736, is presented in outstanding mechanical and cosmetic condition and is ready to be driven and enjoyed immediately.
The Singer was built at the factory in 1934 and delivered new to Mrs. Audrey Scudamore. She owned a total of five Singer automobiles and competed in various motoring events throughout the 1930s. Whether this particular car was also used in competition has not been documented.
It is unknown how long BKO 736 remained in Mrs. Scudamore’s ownership. The documented history resumes in 1984, when the car was acquired by J. T. Kelly of Kingsley, Northampton, England. In 1987, the Singer was sold to T. J. Baker of Papplewick, Nottingham, where it remained until the end of 1993 before being purchased by its current Belgian owner.
In 1994, the car underwent an extensive restoration in England. Much of the work was carried out by Singer specialist and former owner T. J. Baker in Papplewick, Nottingham. Comprehensive correspondence and photographic documentation testify to the meticulous care and attention to detail invested in the restoration.
The 972 cc four-cylinder engine and the four-speed manual gearbox were also comprehensively rebuilt. The engine was upgraded with a tubular exhaust manifold, twin SU carburettors, and a sportier camshaft profile. These modifications give the car a remarkably lively performance and an engaging, sporting character.
After more than 30 years in the ownership of its current custodian, the Singer continues to present in excellent condition. It has been consistently maintained, carefully refined, and preserved with particular attention to originality.
BKO 736 is currently registered in Belgium and is ready for immediate use.
